CAUSTIC DILUTION PLANT:
Caustic is available in form flex / 48% solution. This concentration of 48% is maintained to minimize transportation charges between caustic producing plant & caustic consuming plant. In most of the cases 48% caustic solution is diluted before being consumed by the process industry. Water is mixed with the caustic to dilute it to the desired level. We, Jet Vacuum Systems Pvt. Ltd., have invented very innovative technology which dilutes the caustic solution & produces chilled water. Production of chilled water, by using caustic dilution method is one of the most cost effective way. In this technology dilution of caustic & production of chilled water both purpose are served simultaneously.
Caustic Dilution is based on 'Adiabatic Evaporation' wherein feed water is exposed to high vacuum in flash chamber resulting evaporation of water & thus cooling of water takes places & evaporated water vapors mix with 485 caustic & in turn dilute it. Here, low vapor pressure property of caustic is used for creation of high vacuum, since water vapors have very high affinity towards caustic solution so this property is also used here. It can be noted from the subsequent diagram that 48% caustic is being circulated in Absorber. This absorber is connected to Flash Vessel in which water enters at high temperature & flashing takes place. Water vapors thus generated mix with circulating caustic in Absorber and dilute it. Due to mixing of water vapor with caustic solution exothermic reaction takes place thus heated caustic solution is cooled in PHE. Fresh caustic solution of 48% is continuously fed in the loop at pre- determined rate and diluted caustic of 39% is continuously withdrawn from the loop at pre-determined rate, as shown in the diagram.
